Major ups to @-Truth- and @RavensFanMania for their hard work on the new, revolutionized version of the State of the Franchise where, get this... almost all of the math will virtually be done for you. We're opting to convert to a Google Doc spreadsheet this year where all you have to do is input your signings, trades, etc. and the math will be done for you via pre-populated formulas. Both of them worked tremendously hard on this and we think it will help manage the cap from both a member and management perspective a lot better. In order to access the document, please send an email address via PM to either myself, Truth, or RFM. Please don't everyone send them to me. A guy can only take so many PMs lol

Since there's one for First-Pick we may as well have a thread ready for the fanspeak mocks. These can be interesting, though rarely realistic. Even if the board is decent, teams do a lot of weird picks. Oh well, I'll get it started: 16: R1P16 S JAMAL ADAMS LSU 47: R2P15 EDGE TAKKARIST MCKINLEY UCLA 78: R3P14 C PAT ELFLEIN OHIO STATE 102: R3P38 WR CURTIS SAMUEL OHIO STATE 121: R4P16 EDGE DAESHON HALL TEXAS A&M 160: R5P15 CB CORN ELDER MIAMI (FLA.) 199: R6P14 OT STORM NORTON TOLEDO 237: R7P16 CB ASHTON LAMPKIN OKLAHOMA STATE Speaking of unrealistic, Elflein in the third. Gotta admit though, I'd be beyond ecstatic if this was our draft.

You wrote what you wrote in response to me saying the Ravens ended up with the right guy between Flacco and Ryan. In no way did you frame it that way when you first made the statement. But yeah, OK. lol And on your side note; I think most would say Joe performed admirably early on in the playoffs considering he was so inexperienced and had zero time as an apprentice behind an NFL franchise QB.

Not yet. Nothing will be official until the threads surface. Just waiting on a few responses from the CoCo in regards to our State of the Franchise idea before we make anything official.

I'm going to lay out a few names I wouldn't mind in the first round. All realistic hopefully depending on how many QBs go before us. Dalvin Cook. Quincy Wilson, Taco Charleton, Teez Tabor, Corey Davis. Lucky if these guys are avaiable and we should pounce - Rueben Foster, Mike Williams, Marcus Lattimore, Solomon Thomas or maybe even Fournette ( all unlikely but one can always hope and pray)!

Sucks that Elam didn't pan out (adios to him btw), but hey, this could be a nice consolation prize. I doubt we get him because.....yeah.

Desmond king doesn't seem to mind. I kinda hope he'll be our pick too. He could change that perception I believe

LMAO! So now he's not just "average Joe", he's the QB that "wasn't Boller bad". Too much!

Ah, but it does not. Bryant was perfect from beyond 50 (it'd be 52) and it would have been 3rd and 23. The Patriots aren't going to sell out for a run. That means Freeman can probably get like 4 or 5 yards, at least, making it a very makable kick for Bryant. Why he decided to pass again with no Schraeder and a hurt Mack is... well, I have no idea why you'd do that again and risk another sack, another fumble, or a hold. The risk was far too great, even if the pass was initially completed. I hated the play call selection, too. Trust me, I thought it was bad, even with hindsight. I'm very much in the same boat of why not run off clock before you pass? Was he trying to catch them off guard and act all sneaky? It just wasn't smart.

I like Pitta, but he is a terrible blocker (that's being nice). In my opinion, I would cut Pitta post June 1 and cut Watson. Having Boyle, Gillmore, Waller and Williams is enough. They are cheap and if Gillmore balls out, pay him or have Maxx Williams step into the starting role full time. He was a 2nd round pick.

King is one year removed from winning the Jim Thorpe Award and an 8 interception season. The guys is baller. He might not have been the fluidity to mirror receivers as some others do, but he sure as heck makes up for it with the rest of his skill set. If he runs 4.5-4.58 range I think he will be great as safety with versatility to play corner

I don't know. You don't have go that far back to see a successful second round pick. KO played well here and then got a gigantic check from the Raiders. Him, Torrey, and Kruger all got their money after the Ravens, and a super bowl ring while here.

I don't think that's fair to Joe, Joe isn't some decent QB. In the current version of the NFL, there are only 7 QB's that have won superbowls including Joe. Of those 7 5 of them won superbowl MVP including Joe.

We have lost players in free agency much more important and irreplaceable than Brandon Williams. I'm not saying he isn't a key cog - but IMHO losing him can't be compared to losing KO, for example... Guys, this is the cap system. It's easy to see the cap as a bad thing when your team is near the limit and it feels like a chokehold - but if the cap system wasn't in place, and the only limit on roster salary was how much money the owner is willing to spend on the team, it would be hell. Believe me: I'm European, and thus can see it every day in our soccer - so I can safely predict at least half of the NFL (and this is a VERY conservative estimation, believe me) would be in the hands of oil sheiks, Chinese and Russian and Thai oligarchs - most of whom could easily buy the entire NFL if they really wanted... Believe me: you wouldn't want that.

Of course we'd all rather have an ugly guy that threw less interceptions and more touchdowns, but hey it's the off season and what else can we talk about? Maybe the smartest guy in NFL? We'd probably have that one too, with Urschel. LOL.

I looked at the game again, Ryan took and made some HORRIBLE decisions regardless of the play call. Remember when Flacco threw an INT vs the Eagles? Was it a good play call? No, but that throw he made was trash ...Ryan took some HORRIBLE sacks late game and had ample time to get rid of the ball.

Totally irrelevant, but I cannot help thinking about this Dilbert strip:

I still say that, given the current roster and the depth of the rookie crop, Ozzie cannot really pick a bad position at #16. He could pick the wrong guy - but not the wrong position (excluding ones he obviously won't go for - QB, P, K...). At #16 there will almost surely be prime talent for every position.

From the PFF article featured in today's LFW on the front page. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-the-leagues-best-receivers-for-each-type-of-route/ I've said many times and will continue to say, I think Britt will be a perfect fit for what the Ravens want to do not only in 2017 but moving forward as well. With both price and fit, I think Britt should be a target for the Ravens. I think the crossing pattern will be a huge part of what the Ravens want to do, especially with play action off the run game and nobody ran that route better than Britt last year.

    1. It doesn't mean he was a bad pick for the NFL, but it certainly means he was a bad pick for the team. There's no scenario where anybody could say that he produced quality value as a 2nd round pick for the Ravens. Did he produce quality value for the Bills/Panthers? Sure, but not for the Ravens. As I said, he was basically the same player as Terrence Cody. We can't say one was a bust and the other was a good pick, because the only thing that matters for the team drafting that player is how well they play for THAT team. If Matt Elam goes on to be a stud for another team, that doesn't mean he was a good pick by the Ravens. It means the Ravens spent a 1st rounder on a guy who rarely played well for them and then played great elsewhere. 2. As far as Kruger, again, just depends on expectations. I think 2nd round picks should be consistent starters, yet unspectacular players for the most part. Torrey Smith is a guy that I think fit the mold of what I would expect a 2nd round pick to be. Good player, quality contributor, not a franchise-type guy that you want to lead that particular unit in the future.

vague, quite vague. First Flacco is not going anywhere until after 2018 so 2 more years, time to end the pleading for something that many do not agree with you about, especially since its not going to happen. Second, Williams is going to deal on a good deal for himself and his family, not on what he is "offered" in order for us, the Ravens or any other NFL owner thinks won't "break the bank" or save money for mo. Certainly you can't expect a low ball offer to work. The Ravens are in a much better place to work out deals this year than in the " KO " and "Nagta" FA timing. Williams is worth 10mil yr. and, as far as the NFL knows, worth more. The Ravens can afford a deal. Values for positions get set by competition. I believe he is worth top dollar from the Ravens, some may not agree. 5 yr /$50 mil make the offer OZ and i bet he stays. As far as Wagner, again he can be kept. The question is what is he worth to the Ravens? His position should not command quite the dollar height of a NT. Hopefully he can be retained for 6.5 mil yr something like a 3 yr /$20 mil. make the offer OZ, if he walks he may not get more and might stick around. Otherwise Draft the big guy and Put Yanda back on the right side, we have been there before. I also do not believe that the Wallace is the contract that the Ravens should give up to gain Williams back. It saves 5.5 in space, rather I would give up the Dumerville contract at almost the same 5.3. So there are some facts and figures ( ballpark) as some ways to look at keeping them. its a total team situation agreed. However I would give up Dumervil, Guy and Powers to Keep Williams at this point in the careers. We might get a trade deal with Doom

A veteran presence with strong leadership ability always fits into a Ravens D. We just lost our young and fast guy, Zach Orr, and the word on the street is that McClellan will move back inside if necessary. D'Qwell is a much better player than that, even if it turns out like a Daryl Smith situation where he comes in for a few years, balls out, and moves on. Honestly, if the goal every year is to get to the playoffs, why wouldn't we want someone who can help us do that, even if it is only for a year or two? This isn't a team that needs to be totally rebuilt from the ground up, it is a team that needs a few plug and play starters to get over the hump. D'Qwell Jackson fits that mold.
