Wallace and I'm not thinking too hard about it. I got a lot of love for what Torrey has done here but I think Wallace can do a bit more than him.

The Falcons blowing a 25 point lead isn't Ryan's fault..... But Rings: Flacco:1 Ryan:0 Matt Ryan's Number is 2, Joe Flacco's number is 5. If you put two and five next to each other the number 25 is created. Joe Flacco has 1 super bowl ring. 25*1 is STILL 25.... The Falcons blew a 25 point lead. Never forget.

Ryan didn't choke, the falcons as a team did. Speechless

Thoroughly convinced that the patriots aren't the best team.. it was the falcons used the dean pees play book at the end of the game...

To be fair he didn't lose the game for the Falcons. They hardly had the ball in the second half. He is a really good QB and I applaud him for his MVP season and I disagree with you that he choked. Where is the evidence of him choking? In fact he made some incredible plays or should I say Julio Jones made the best catch I have seen all season on that snag on the sideline.

Doesnt matter. Just enjoy the superbowl and hope cheatriots lose

I never once thought the game was over when the Falcons lead by 3 TDs; I had a feeling it's a setup for the Pats to make the first team to ever come back and win with 3TD deficit in SB history...

And on the other side of that, is a pick a bust if unexpected injury derails or ruins their career? I've seen many posts about "Ozzie drafted a bust" all throughout 2015 because Perriman got hurt and in the past because of injuries that couldn't be predicted (see Kindle). Arthur Brown is an example of a bad draft pick. Kindle is more of an unfortunate one imo

Look, the fact that the OP just wanted to show some appreciation for one of our players, only to have it derailed by the usual trolls with the same lame "arguments" says a lot about those people, and nothing about Joe. Yawn...

Well said. If the Ravens D gave up a 25 point lead you know damn well the D is getting blamed for the loss. But the Falcons D does and it's Ryan's fault? Why is it different?

Ryan played at BC, so not the best weather in the world, and he led an absurd comeback against VT in pouring rain. He can play in elements

Hmmmmm... Super Bowl 49: Instead of running it, Seahawks pass and lose the game. Super Bowl 51: Atlanta neglected the running game, and loss the game. The Ultimate irony.... Patriots do what Seattle and Atlanta failed to do and won a game on a rushing TD. As they say, what goes around, comes around.

I dont know what kind of public perfection could be formed other than he just straight up jacked a woman in the face, knocking her out, and not showing any remorse. Yea, he apologized but considering the things he was continuously tweeting out through everything, its clear he was saving face when "apologizing" I would be absolutely outraged if we picked him.

The NFL is becoming more and more like WWE- it's more about entertaining and less about playing the freakin' game. With all the billions that are tied up in the league, each week and especially the Super Bowl- there's no way I'll believe that a lot of what we're seeing ain't scripted. Heck, we're probably just a few years away from entire seasons being choreographed.

When are these OCs are going to learn to run the ball in the 4th quarter. Every mistake the Falcons made was due to passing the football. The fumble, The sack, the holding call. With Mike leaving, they may never make it back. SMH

Pretty sure this has been well documented several times and the Ravens have all but confirmed this is true. Steve was willing to do whatever it took to get a franchise QB, and it was DeCosta that convinced him that the drop off from Ryan to Joe wasn't worth the picks we had to give up to get him. If Steve had his way, Ryan would be a Raven.

Wallace over Torrey all day long. Until we get the O'line fixed Joe will not have the time nor the nerve to wait for the deep plays to develop and Torrey being a one trick pony can only run straight and fast. Remember when he was on the team, his routes were awful, he got the case of "the short arms" in traffic etc. Wallace still runs pretty good routes, fights for the ball and plays mean. I like Wallace much more then Torrey.
  19. 3 points
Why is cutting Wallace even brought up. He did exactly what we wanted him to do. Why sign him in the first place then. That would be bad business

No matter who you feel is better Ryan or Flacco, the fact is that the Falcons have put together a highly effective mix of skill position players around Matt which has helped to raise his level of play and to produce some gaudy numbers. To state the obvious, it ain't just him that has improved. But the proven formula for consistent offensive(and defensive for that matter) success remains in building an effective line. For me signing Mack as the anchor of an already solid group is what has put them over the top.

Round 1- Sidney Jones CB Washington Jones has been probably the most steady in terms of draft stock. He's been ranked in the top 20 on a lot of boards for a while. He has no off the feild issues, is a hard worker and doesn't seem to have much of an injury history. You'd like to see him at 185lbs at the combine and run well to cement his stock. - I could put Humphrey/Wilson here. I'm not sure how the ravens will dictate between the 3. Round 2- Desmond King DB Iowa Hey, if the board falls this way. Why not. We need more young dbs and although king needs work, he can still contribute on special teams and have a chance to learn behind Webb and weddle on his switch to safety. I think king and the ravens are just a dream cenario waiting to happen. Round 3- Pat elfien C Ohio St This is really anyone's guess. I have a feeling we should get someone who falls and elfien could be that guy. Especially with lamp and feeney showing the same versatility at C. Although I see elfien as a true center. I don't see him playing much guard at the next level. We could go another direction and get a powerful guard and just leave either zuttah or urchel at C. 2 great guards always help a center. So we'll see Round 3 (comp) - Curtis Samuel RB/WR Ohio St I'm not sure he'll fall this far but I think he's a 3rd rounder for sure. He has no true position and some teams will have a hard time finding him a spot on their team. His skills would mesh well with what our offense needs, and I think Roman will find a way to get him the ball in space like he did with McCoy. 4th round- Chris wormley DE Michigan Of course we go with a Michigan guy. Why wouldn't we. He seems like a raven player and just adds good depth to our d line. 5th round- Ardarius Stewart WR Alabama Is a bit underrated and made big plays at critical times for Alabama throughout his career. He's a good run blocker and can contribute on special teams. 6th round- Jalen Reeves-maybin LB Tennessee His injury history seems to have him lower than he should be. He probably won't fall this far as a lot of my later round guys seem to be but itd be nice to grab this guy in rounds 4-7 7th round- trey Hendrickson edge FAU Again, it's hard to judge how far guys will fall but I like what I've seen from this kid. He can definitely get to the qb and that will get him drafted

Rule of thumb. Don't discuss any teams you want or may be interested in. Reason is because since we don't know the order, if you express interest in a team someone else may take them if they see someone else have interest. Much like how we don't discuss player interest during the draft.

This. Don't jump the gun and make a move right away just for the sake of making a move. Take your time, do research, and consider all of your options. I jumped right into trades my first year and there were quite a few I wish I could have taken back once I got more comfortable with the game.

My honest fear is we'll end up paying more than we should to retain Williams and let Wagner go. Wagner is a rock solid RT and is getting better. Williams is maxed out and we know what we're going to get from him. He gets double teamed, is a great run stopper but doesn't penetrate like other great DTs that are highly paid. I think we should let Brandon walk for a compensatory pick and sign Wagner, Guy and Juice. Listening to Mink of BR.com talk about how they're going to go after Williams made me wonder if they actually will. He has replacements in house right now. We have Pierce who is an able run stopping replacement with a low center of gravity and weight comparable to Williams except he gets more penetration imo. We have Henry and Davis on standby as well along with Jernigan and Guy. Speaking of Guy, he is the more important DL signing in my view. He is rock solid and just gets it done play after play. He reminds me of the production of JJ in a way. Now I don't pay too much attention to what Mink says because frankly he is just a reporter for BR.com and has no inside track and is basing all these articles on a 3 minute interview he had with DeCosta at the Senior Bowl.

I've always thought the revisionist history by Ravens fans in regards to Boldin was interesting. 104 yards and a TD in the superbowl is great for a WR, it's never been Superbowl MVP worthy. I used to think fans viewed his total playoff performance when saying he deserved MVP, but 380 yards and 4 TDs in 4 games as a WR doesn't hold a candle to 1140 yards, 11 TDs, and 0 INTs as a QB. Jacoby you could make a good argument for though, for the superbowl specifically. 290 all purpose yards and 2 TDs is crazy good

I may be in the minority here, but I want no part of Ray Lewis as a coach for the Ravens at this time. I think he has too much of a "look at me" personality and would be a distraction. Plus, I have no clue whether he can coach or not. He is too big of a legend for him to come here as a coach and potentially fail. I can't imagine the backlash that would happen if he came here and failed as a coach and he had to be fired. Granted, I am all for him pursuing a coaching job if that is what he wants, but I feel that would be best in a different location for both him and the Ravens (at least until he can prove he's an effective coach)

I really don't think Torrey Smith will be much cheaper than Mike Wallace..... I also think Brandon Marshall would be more expensive than Pierre Garcon....

I have said all along that this is my dream scenario..top tier corner in Round 1 and Desmond King in Round 2 (which it seems his stock is dropping just a bit...I think he would be a steal in the 2nd round)

have to agree with you. they are the best. seems they become even better when fingers are pointed towards them or accused of wrong doing. they have a blueprint and have stuck to it. ravens need to decide what type of team they want to be and stick with that philosophy agreed. Brady is now the best. Might've been before this too. I give a little bit more credit to Bellicheck though. He's outrageous. Their defense never gets credit until there's only a couple teams left, and O look, the pats d is number 1 or 2 all the sudden. How much they score without ever getting Brady playmakers. Aside from Gronk. Outrageous. I almost stopped myself from typing it cuz I don't even want to imagine it, but can you imagine if AP went there this summer? I'm just going to hope/assume the football gods aren't that evil. I doubt they will, and don't know if it would be worth it to trade up, but Fournette and Defense sound like a nice Identity. I like Flacco's play action, esp. coming off a fake to Fournette. You're right, they need to pick something and stick to it

The Falcons can make it back to the Super Bowl if they fire their OC, fire their DC, fire their HC for not running the ball & horrible clock management. Get rid of their overpriced $100 million choke artist QB that can't win a play-off game - they can sign Ryan Mallett for 1/5 of the cost. That would free up $ so they could sign Eric Berry, Brandon Williams & Alshon Jeffery. Draft Darrell Revi...I mean Desmond King in the 1st Round, and Alpha Dawgs - DeVonte Fields & Joe Mixon. Hire Gary Kubiak, Norv Turner & Rex Ryan as coaches. Trade Tevin Coleman to the Browns for Joe Haden & a 1st Round pick. Sign Anquan Boldin & Bernard Pollard. Easily win the next 3 straight Super Bowls.....

I would be very happy with this as our draft. Getting two defensive backs at the top of our draft would be a big help next year , especially Jones and King. I would be surprised to see Worley and Stewart drop that far but stranger things have happened.

Are you talking about Correa or Kafusi? Kafusi was a 3rd round pick and is nothing like dumervil, considering one is 5'10" and the other is 6'7" and play different positions.

Really? He has some good concepts but look what he did to the Eagles when he got full control there. I know the concept is to Kelly-proof the team, similar to baby-proofing the house, but I don't think Harbaugh has ever really let someone like that on his staff.

Shanahans will Shanahan. He's getting blasted for play selection and also the fact that the Falcons were leaving time on the play clock before snapping the ball. The 3rd and 1 sack fumble was the spark that started the Patriots comeback. Matt Ryan looked shook. The Falcons choking it away was historic. Don't like the Patriots but that was a great game and performance.

I think he'll have many different roles. In a base 3-4 or the 4-3 under, he's most likely going to be your 5T. He's still lining up close to the edge on the shoulder of the tackle. He can also probably play a bit of base end in a true 4-3 alignment as well, depending on the situation of course. I think eventually he could slide in as a 1T or 3T in certain situations, but he really needs to work on his leverage before I consider that a legitimate possibility.

Expensive linemen walking from the Ravens after their rookie contracts run out is nothing new. Just off the top of my head there was Micheal Oher who could have been a serviceable RT, Ben Grubbs who went on to become a Pro Bowl LG, and Jason Brown C who was a very good center for many years. Of course KO left last season as well. You can't spend 60-70 million on 5 offensive linemen so you will have perhaps 3 anchors and the others will all be rotational guys. Our anchors right now are Yanda and Stanley; if Stanley pans out to be everything he looks like he will be, the Ravens will keep him in Baltimore. You don't let franchise LT's walk.

I have to agree. It appeared as if Mike Wallace and Flacco have some chemistry. Hell, I'd argue that Flacco was starting to trust PERRIMAN more down the line than he ever did for Torrey.

Someone posted in another thread about late round guys with lots of upside, don't remember who and I don't remember exactly what thread it's in, but take my word for it, someone posted about it. Got me thinking about who my personal gems are at the moment and was wondering who everyone else has as possible late round/UDFA gems. Just for some clarity, when I say "later round" I'm talking about around round 5 or later, but you can be as loose with the definition as you want. Here are some of mine. RB: Kareem Hunt, Toledo - Not very underrated anymore, but at the moment I can see him as being sort of this year's Dixon. Just a guy that does everything well but for whatever reason isn't valued as highly as other RBs. I'm being a little loose with "later round" here as I can see him going round 4 but I don't think he goes any higher than that. WR: Karel Hamilton, Samford - probably going to be an undrafted guy but hands like glue, good speed, and deadly after the catch. Absolutely tore up Mississippi State this year to the tune of 14 catches for 213 yds and 2 TDs. WR: Derrick Griffin, Texas Southern - Sort of breaking the title of the thread as he is not really a player that i have as a gem, I'm just interested in him as a prospect. Don't get much bigger than him at the WR position at 6'7", and he's got plenty of speed. Was dismissed from the TSU football team for this year, so character issues are there - though they didn't really release why outside of a general statement about "players are expected to show up on time and act a certain way; he didn't" so we don't really know exactly what he did. I'm intrigued about where he'll go, or if he gets drafted at all. That height and being a basketball player make him a tempting pick. OL: Jordan Morgan, Kutztown - I absolutely loved what I saw during the Senior Bowl at LG. Some technique issues of course, but every problem I see in him is very fixable. He will be a dang good LG at the next level with some proper polishing. OL: Eric Smith, Virginia - Another player that I liked from the senior, Smith played at RG and I really liked what I saw, particularly as a run blocker. DL: Adam Butler, Vandy - good thing he plays with a high profile defender in Cunnigham so there's plenty of tape out there with Butler on it. Provides solid pass rush skills and has solid strength in the run game. Don't particularly see superstar potential but his potential looks to me like a good rotational Dlineman which is a role that shouldn't be undervalued. DL: Grover Stewart, Albany St. - Great size, great jump off the snap, good strength. Potential on this guy is sky high. CB: D.J. Killings, UCF - not much is said of him but he is smooth and is good against the run. A little undersized at 5'10" but he plays bigger. I'm a pretty big fan of his as a later round guy. CB: Des Lawrence, UNC - technician at CB, good size and not afraid to stick his nose in there and hit someone. Lacks game breaking athleticism though. LB: John Law, App St. - Athleticism to go from sideline to sideline, good in coverage, good against the run, navigates traffic well, and good instincts. Pretty much like him all around, only issue might be injuries. These are just the guys off the top of my head, I might add more later.

Since we're nearing the end of signups (just waiting on the approved posts), the CoCo will select someone to do the random and that will be the order for picking our teams. We'll let you know when that officially starts, but it should be in the next couple of days. You will have 12 hours to select your team. If you won't be around, please pass on a list if your top teams to another member via PM (preferably one who has already picked or is nowhere near your selection) and they can post on your behalf.

Apparently you did not watch the State of the Ravens press conference where Steve Biscotti said he would take chances on people who have a history of trouble, but that the Ravens would not touch someone involved in domestic abuse. This stems from the Ray Rice mess and he vows to not go there again.

I agree 100 percent. Kindle is just plain old unfortunate. I mean seriously, it's laughable to blame the stairs or Kindle for not wearing a helmet whenever he drinks. Brown was a bust of a pick even though I reallily felt good about it when he was drafted. Perriman is exactly where he needs to be to justify investing a late first round pick on him. He got hurt and misdiagnosed his rookie year and missed training camp his second year and still came up with 500 yards and a few TDs as Flaccos 4th option. He's not a good pick or a bad one "yet". Now he needs to build on that and get closer to 1000 yards to be labeled a good pick. if he can't beat out the starters within the next 2 years and get to that 1K mark then yes it would be a bad pick.

100% whiffs like KC, Elam, AB in rounds 1 and 2 set us back. There's just no way around it. Can't whiff 100% in those 2 rounds. Didn't even get average s.t. play from AB or Elam. Or KC yet. If we're drafting play makers at the same time like Brady, Edleman, Gronk, Bell, and Antonio Brown, it'd be a different story. But the fact that we can't draft Offensive playmakers, and now we've been missing on defensive players too, has brought the organization down. Coaching is exposed. Everyone's on the hot seat. Really hope that translates to a win now mentality this off season. Should be fun, or another Sshow, then a whole makeover after next year.....what probably should've happened this year. At least with coaching. This off season should be interesting
