perriman with a full offseason and coming in healthy and in football shape rather than rehab shape, getting some actual developmental reps rather than trying to master the playbook, getting to be a top target rather than an afterthought in the playbook because hes stuck behind 2 high performing veterans. seriously, my hype for perriman is at an all time high, even more than seeing him week 1 this year, i expected a very slow start and possibly thought i would even be disappointed, but his presence was felt and he outperformed my expectations and now im expecting a big leap and i cant wait. dixon who was my 2nd favorite back of the draft and i had him as an early 2nd round talent, and he played like a man possessed once he got healthy and caught some steam. hoping marty feeds him the rock because he is probably the best talent out of all of our offensive skill players. cautiously excited about maxx williams, really hoping he can get healthy and break out. matt judon and tavon young, these guys could be special. if judon can get his conditioning better he is gonna be an excellent 3 down player.

It's gotta be Dixon for me. Watching him progress as the year went along, watching him consistently breaking tackles and almost never going down on first contact, gets me pretty pumped to see what he can do with his rookie season under his belt. If we beef up the Oline and perhaps get a decent center in here after watching Zuttah regress, he can have a stellar year next season. I truly don't understand the buzz for another running back. If Dixon and West aren't consistently being hit in the back field I do believe they'd break more long runs. I think we need to focus this offseason on other needs.

as much as i LOVE dalvin cook as a rb (been on his hype train since last year, have always said hes better than fournette) id be really disappointed if we drafted him in the first. im on the kenneth dixon bandwagon 100% and had him as my 2nd back in the 2016 draft, and i think his play the second half of the season indicated that we have a young monster on our hands.

Next year I am rooting for you guys to make the playoffs. Our only chance is if you eliminate the Patriots for us.

The Ravens are STILL the only AFC team to not crap their pants when they have to play at Foxboro in January.

In all my life I have never understood the reasoning behind this.....

Ugh ... I hate revisiting this play. But this is spot on and I remember Carter's comments the next day on Mike and Mike. Not only did he try to land on both feet, it looked like he wanted to turn up field. You are in the end zone ... where else do you need to go? A receiver that knows how to catch TDs envelops that ball and there is no chance for a defender to poke it away. So - semantics ... it was not a "drop", but it was a play that absolutely should have been made (not that there was a lot at stake ...)

If I am being honest, it is Joe. I really feel like this summer is going to be a brainstorming session to get things in place to help Joe excel.

Thank you. I couldn't stand going through 15 minutes of Redskins just to get a 5 minute piece on the Ravens. I won't pretend to act like I know enough about network deals to say what Mr. B should or shouldn't do, I just hope wherever RaveTV goes they have some knowledgeable guys giving insight on the Ravens

I think this is my favorite part of anyone's post. 1. Call Dalton better than Flacco 2. Say Flacco needs a great o-line, stud running game, stud WRs, and an effective defense to succeed 3. Fully ignore the fact that Dalton has had all that practically his whole career

Julio Jones... Can't help remembering the YUUUUGE pack of picks the Falcons gave up to trade up and snatch Julio Jones. And the chances Ozzie will ever even consider such a trade... Never. I'm not saying he's wrong - it was a huge risk of the Falcons that could have crippled their development for years if Jones doesn't turn out to be the star he is now. I'm just trying to gauge the chances of the Ravens getting an elite WR through the draft. Our "luck" is that the year we had a top-10 pick was the year where there was no elite WR in the draft... And even if we got a WR like Jones... with the dismal offensive play calling we saw this season, he would hardly be anything close to what he is in Atlanta... And talking about Atlanta... another thing I can't help remembering is how we could have had Shanahan as the new OC replacing Kubiak, but went with Trestman instead...

Doesn't any AFC team ever watch film of when we face the Patriots? That's the blue print of how to be competitive with the Pats but yet it seems they ignore it and get blown out by the Patriots instead.

We need to play this game in the film room before every game next season to remind our coaches that it's ok to keep the pedal to the floor and score anytime you want.

Why are we talking about running backs when this coaching staff won't run the ball when West & Dixon CAN run the ball !

I suspect a lot of our newer posters have no clue who Ogden is and what he meant to this team. Damn turf toe!

If we keep Wagner then I'll go with the offensive line. I think Lewis improves and Stanley has a true breakout year. I also expect the new C addition would be a boost.

Thats my stance on it... see if you can extend him an additional 2 years, so 3 total - and try to even out the cap hit in the $5m range. It'd be great in theory, but after the production he put up he may think he can make a lot more in the open market and take a hard stance... pay me the $8m or decline the option and let me hit FA. In that case I would hope the rest of the NFL has wised up and will view his years in Miami and Minnesota as closer to what they'd be paying for than this one year in Baltimore.
  27. 4 points
He got a $4.5M signing bonus last season, which was prorated over the two years. So if we don't pick the option up, he would still count $2.25M against the cap, with $5.75M in cap savings. I personally think that IF we are open to bringing him back, it might be on an extension after declining the roster bonus. While I don't think an $8M cap hit is necessarily prohibitive, that's also more than double what last years cap hit was, and I'm not sure we would be looking for that kind of production again anyway.

Hey, at least we're the only team to beat NE at their home when they were leading at half-time, and the only team to beat them at their home in the AFC title game. Let's be honest here, we're a spoiled rotten fan-base. I get that NE and Pitt are as well, but the fact that we were the only ones to do that, c'mon man, no one can take that away from us. Makes me so proud of this franchise. I love this team so damn much man.
  29. 4 points
Yup, nothing on the Chiefs says they can win in foxborough. Nothing tells me Alex Smith can play as well as Flacco did in 2011, 2012, and 2014 and while I like their defense, they won't score enough points.

Joe ain't Ben or Brady, but look at the time to throw, with receivers running open all over the field. Flacco can only dream about that...

The Falcons are the 12th different NFC Champion in the last 16 seasons.... crazy how wide open the NFC is compared to the AFC.
  35. 4 points
Eh. Disagree. Ryan is clearly ahead now, but let's not engage in revisionist history. The Falcons were dire outside of their dome. See the 2011 wild card round @NYG. Dan Quinn has instilled a toughness and confidence in this team that they simply did not have before.

The RB's we have now are good enough if the coaches use them correctly Dixon was carrying steelers on his back 10 yards down field and he will be a lot better this year and west also
  37. 4 points
"RBs ... combined for only six plays for over 20 or more yds" A very disingenuous assessment. Put simply, we didn't run the ball much last year. The RBs didn't get enough opportunities. This is so emblematic of this coaching regime. They never look in the mirror but always puts the onus on the players. There were many games this last year when they started the game with a pass and never stopped passing. There was so much lack of feel for the game. It happened all over the field but especially in the red zone. It seemed like they were in such a hurry for Flacco to throw that TD, that they throw on 1st and 2nd downs and usually all incomplete passes and we are left 3rd and goal, then a dump off pass behind the line of scrimmage. End result? Tucker field goal! It doesn't matter if you have Elliot, if you don't use him, he is not gonna produce.

We have too many other needs. Our running backs are fine if you would #1 improve the O line and #2 actually RUN them.

Catches it with his hands, wraps it up immediately and Moore never has time to strip it. Not turning and just falling down would have worked as well. Ball game and on the the SB. Worst play in Ravens history. If I remember correctly Boldin dropped a TD late in that same playoff game against the Steelers where who's your momma dropped the 4th down pass.

Yes - it is sarcasm ... hence the LOL. I just feel like there are times when people will say they've looked at a player's "tape", when all they've done was look at their highlight reel ... which of course is laughable. Personally, I look for other people to give me their opinions on prospects, because I'm not going to pretend to be a talent evaluator. I do not seek out anyone's tape, because I wouldn't be able to say one thing or another about it anyway.

Cyprien would be a solid get considering that he improved vastly this season. I can almost bypass the fact that Weddle missed two tackles through the first 13 games, the lowest total of any safety through that span. But you went on to criticize supposed fraudulent defensive data directly after mentioning Weddle allowing the Eagles "game-winning touchdown" that came 1 point short of tying the game and resulted in a Ravens victory, thereby falling into the exact category you've just condemned. How well did we think this through? That came after hailing a potential acquisition of Joe Haden, who'd apparently improve our secondary for the next few years, despite him giving up 24 catches on 31 targets for 387 yards and 4 TDs in his only 5 games in 2015, good for a QB rating of 158.2, literally .1 away from a perfect score, and then struggling in 2016 while giving up the 2nd most TDs among all CBs and missing a career-high 10 tackles. But I guess we could glaze over those pitfalls and praise Haden's recent performance while denouncing Weddle because of two specific follies, one of which was negated by the Ravens' win. Right. This is why we can't have nice things.

What people should be debating is if we should have gone after Alex Mack when his agent was pushing us to do so. Either the first time when he stayed (Browns kept him on matched offer) or the second time.

    1. They lost to the Steelers at home 2. They had no shot with Alex Smith at QB
