perriman with a full offseason and coming in healthy and in football shape rather than rehab shape, getting some actual developmental reps rather than trying to master the playbook, getting to be a top target rather than an afterthought in the playbook because hes stuck behind 2 high performing veterans. seriously, my hype for perriman is at an all time high, even more than seeing him week 1 this year, i expected a very slow start and possibly thought i would even be disappointed, but his presence was felt and he outperformed my expectations and now im expecting a big leap and i cant wait. dixon who was my 2nd favorite back of the draft and i had him as an early 2nd round talent, and he played like a man possessed once he got healthy and caught some steam. hoping marty feeds him the rock because he is probably the best talent out of all of our offensive skill players. cautiously excited about maxx williams, really hoping he can get healthy and break out. matt judon and tavon young, these guys could be special. if judon can get his conditioning better he is gonna be an excellent 3 down player.

It's gotta be Dixon for me. Watching him progress as the year went along, watching him consistently breaking tackles and almost never going down on first contact, gets me pretty pumped to see what he can do with his rookie season under his belt. If we beef up the Oline and perhaps get a decent center in here after watching Zuttah regress, he can have a stellar year next season. I truly don't understand the buzz for another running back. If Dixon and West aren't consistently being hit in the back field I do believe they'd break more long runs. I think we need to focus this offseason on other needs.

Look I am a Flacco fan, but an appreciation thread after this season I think is a little much. Also, he isn't going anywhere so why appreciate something that's going to remain here for the foreseeable future right now. Unless you know something I don't....

Ugh ... I hate revisiting this play. But this is spot on and I remember Carter's comments the next day on Mike and Mike. Not only did he try to land on both feet, it looked like he wanted to turn up field. You are in the end zone ... where else do you need to go? A receiver that knows how to catch TDs envelops that ball and there is no chance for a defender to poke it away. So - semantics ... it was not a "drop", but it was a play that absolutely should have been made (not that there was a lot at stake ...)

If I am being honest, it is Joe. I really feel like this summer is going to be a brainstorming session to get things in place to help Joe excel.

Thank you. I couldn't stand going through 15 minutes of Redskins just to get a 5 minute piece on the Ravens. I won't pretend to act like I know enough about network deals to say what Mr. B should or shouldn't do, I just hope wherever RaveTV goes they have some knowledgeable guys giving insight on the Ravens

We need to play this game in the film room before every game next season to remind our coaches that it's ok to keep the pedal to the floor and score anytime you want.

Why are we talking about running backs when this coaching staff won't run the ball when West & Dixon CAN run the ball !

I suspect a lot of our newer posters have no clue who Ogden is and what he meant to this team. Damn turf toe!

If we keep Wagner then I'll go with the offensive line. I think Lewis improves and Stanley has a true breakout year. I also expect the new C addition would be a boost.
  15. 5 points
hahaha, yea, this basically says it all. Are you a scout for the browns?

Orr was one of the few people playing well against the Pats. He did great, and it wasn't because of others around him.

The Falcons are the 12th different NFC Champion in the last 16 seasons.... crazy how wide open the NFC is compared to the AFC.
  18. 4 points
Eh. Disagree. Ryan is clearly ahead now, but let's not engage in revisionist history. The Falcons were dire outside of their dome. See the 2011 wild card round @NYG. Dan Quinn has instilled a toughness and confidence in this team that they simply did not have before.

The RB's we have now are good enough if the coaches use them correctly Dixon was carrying steelers on his back 10 yards down field and he will be a lot better this year and west also

"RBs ... combined for only six plays for over 20 or more yds" A very disingenuous assessment. Put simply, we didn't run the ball much last year. The RBs didn't get enough opportunities. This is so emblematic of this coaching regime. They never look in the mirror but always puts the onus on the players. There were many games this last year when they started the game with a pass and never stopped passing. There was so much lack of feel for the game. It happened all over the field but especially in the red zone. It seemed like they were in such a hurry for Flacco to throw that TD, that they throw on 1st and 2nd downs and usually all incomplete passes and we are left 3rd and goal, then a dump off pass behind the line of scrimmage. End result? Tucker field goal! It doesn't matter if you have Elliot, if you don't use him, he is not gonna produce.

We have too many other needs. Our running backs are fine if you would #1 improve the O line and #2 actually RUN them.

Catches it with his hands, wraps it up immediately and Moore never has time to strip it. Not turning and just falling down would have worked as well. Ball game and on the the SB. Worst play in Ravens history. If I remember correctly Boldin dropped a TD late in that same playoff game against the Steelers where who's your momma dropped the 4th down pass.

Yes - it is sarcasm ... hence the LOL. I just feel like there are times when people will say they've looked at a player's "tape", when all they've done was look at their highlight reel ... which of course is laughable. Personally, I look for other people to give me their opinions on prospects, because I'm not going to pretend to be a talent evaluator. I do not seek out anyone's tape, because I wouldn't be able to say one thing or another about it anyway.

We've got the WR 1&2, we also have the OLB and RT as of right now. Quit being so pessimistic. We've gpot WR 1&2? Who do you consider starting caliber WR beside Wallace? Because I don't think at all that Perriman has proven himself last sesaon... The way things looked at the end of the season, I'd much rather go with Aiken than Perriman - but Kamar's all but gone. "Because I don't think at all that Perriman has proven himself last sesaon" We need to play our picks if we want out of veteran free agent cycle. If we want true impact FAs then we can't let journeyman guys take reps from our draft picks and money from our cap.

I'm hyped for Perriman and Dixon. I think both guys are going to be great for this offense.

Cyprien would be a solid get considering that he improved vastly this season. I can almost bypass the fact that Weddle missed two tackles through the first 13 games, the lowest total of any safety through that span. But you went on to criticize supposed fraudulent defensive data directly after mentioning Weddle allowing the Eagles "game-winning touchdown" that came 1 point short of tying the game and resulted in a Ravens victory, thereby falling into the exact category you've just condemned. How well did we think this through? That came after hailing a potential acquisition of Joe Haden, who'd apparently improve our secondary for the next few years, despite him giving up 24 catches on 31 targets for 387 yards and 4 TDs in his only 5 games in 2015, good for a QB rating of 158.2, literally .1 away from a perfect score, and then struggling in 2016 while giving up the 2nd most TDs among all CBs and missing a career-high 10 tackles. But I guess we could glaze over those pitfalls and praise Haden's recent performance while denouncing Weddle because of two specific follies, one of which was negated by the Ravens' win. Right. This is why we can't have nice things.

Great analysis. You picked out the 4 missed plays.... and ignore the 100's of great ones he made. Very clear you dont understand what you're watching and just pay attention to big plays and highlights. With a lesser safety tandem, chances are we're not even in a position to win either of those games. Our secondary improved drastically over the previous years... i wonder why. btw have you watched Haden in the past.. oh i dont know, 3-4 years?? didnt think so. youre probably just thinking of the INT's he got against us in the 1st game and translating that to - "hes amazing!!!"

1,000% agree as someone who has seen the stark contrast in surrounding circumstances between Joe and Andy by virtue of watching every game they've both played. Without a doubt Dalton held them back, he had one good season and got hurt throwing an awful pick on a screen pass. The windows he gets, the WR separation, the YAC, the protection, the supporting run game, are all night and day to what Flacco has. The degree of difficulty on the throws they are asked to make is night and day, we see this every Ravens Bengals game, just watch the difference, how hard it is for Joe and how easy it is for Dalton. Jaws pointed this out when defending Flacco, we ask him to make more difficult throws on a more consistent basis, stats do not reflect this in the manner in which we relate stats to an 'elite' QB. Bengal fans have become accustomed to such great o line play and wr talent they were acting like they had the league worst WRs and O line this year, I had to point out once again the Ravens o line was ranked worse. Dalton literally did nothing half his games, threw the ball away because he can't make difficult throws and can't make it happen without elite WR talent. Dalton is not a better QB and if you think this you do not understand football.

are you really equating sss and mike wallace to nelson/gronk - and lets remember that early on in the year rodgers struggled and it was blamed on nelson still recovering from his injury

Meanwhile the Colts just take another WR in the first, and Luck cries himself to sleep.

What's your initial thoughts on Kamalei Correa being active but not seeing a single snap on defense? That's pretty disheartening for a 2nd round pick.

Ryan has a lot of pieces, but even without that, his deep ball is much better, his mechanics are smoother, and he's no longer the statue in the pocket he used to be. Combine that with the fact that he's always been a pretty accurate QB, and it's allowed him to take his game to the next level. This is the work he put in during the offseason: http://www.espn.com/blog/atlanta-falcons/post/_/id/22186/falcons-matt-ryan-dug-deeper-to-prepare-for-2016-season Maybe Flacco will be so inspired.

This game just proves you can be a beast of a QB but you still need a TEAM to win. What a crap game for Rogers.
  37. 3 points
Come on now Rodgers, stop acting like Brady and whining to the officials.
  38. 3 points
What we can all hope for is that this lights a fire under Joe's butt. But we need to put more pieces around Joe. That's the only way we can get back to the big dance. As good as Ryan's been, the whole team is a very good one.

We need a shut down cb to make our pass rushers better, Then either a OL or edge rusher. We don't have the ability in the FO to draft a WR.
  41. 3 points
Perriman and Dixon. Both should be pivotal players in the offense next year. Hopefully Stanley continues where he left off and stays on the field. He's an all pro tackle when healthy.

only 1 OL? in 4th? only 1 db? Anzalone not athletic enough and have injury concern i'm not sure about that... Quincy Wilson , T.J. Watt , Isaiah Ford +++

Thinking a little outside of the box, but looking at FA ILBs now, I'd potentially be interested in a reunion with Josh Bynes. He maintained solid play in Detroit after the left here, and should cost peanuts. We know he can play ST as well so I'd definitely be open to adding him to the competition.

I do love helping raise the next generation of Ravens fans. Sometimes I wish everyone would remember they were all new once, though. People are not always as kind to noobs as they should be.

Flacco has a better playoff record no doubt but Collins went to the playoffs 3 times as a starter and they've been to the same number of Super Bowls. Collins just ran into the best defense of all time in his. Collins and Flacco's physical skill set is quite similar and they both relied on equally complimentary run/pass games to be successful. They just played in vastly different eras for QBs. Essentially what I was trying to get at with my original post is that Flacco will never be a top 5 QB and people need to accept that. People also need to accept that he's not bottom 5 and that you can win with him. Just the FO has to be more deliberate in what it does to a roster to make him successful.
  47. 3 points
WAY more than that if you're a mod.

It sounds like the Ravens have already given up on Correa/. We need new scouts. This is just embarrassing.

I'd be pissed if we took RB in the first round, when more mad if we traded up for him. We need to draft players of need.
