I will say, I've met Zach a few times and you can tell that he's a very smart guy. It sucks as a fan and a team to lose out on a young ascending player, but at the end of the day, you have to hope the best for him. I don't doubt for one second that he put a lot of thought into this decision and made the choice that he ultimately felt was best for himself and his future. I wish him luck. I'm sad to see him go, but I'll never blame a guy for walking away to try to preserve his health.

Crazy to say but I bet he's thankful for that injury against the Eagles/Steelers because it may have saved his life or the quality of it.

perriman with a full offseason and coming in healthy and in football shape rather than rehab shape, getting some actual developmental reps rather than trying to master the playbook, getting to be a top target rather than an afterthought in the playbook because hes stuck behind 2 high performing veterans. seriously, my hype for perriman is at an all time high, even more than seeing him week 1 this year, i expected a very slow start and possibly thought i would even be disappointed, but his presence was felt and he outperformed my expectations and now im expecting a big leap and i cant wait. dixon who was my 2nd favorite back of the draft and i had him as an early 2nd round talent, and he played like a man possessed once he got healthy and caught some steam. hoping marty feeds him the rock because he is probably the best talent out of all of our offensive skill players. cautiously excited about maxx williams, really hoping he can get healthy and break out. matt judon and tavon young, these guys could be special. if judon can get his conditioning better he is gonna be an excellent 3 down player.

i wanna point out what our record would be if flacco hadnt been constantly let down by his teammates: perriman not getting his foot down on that perfect back shoulder fade vs the skins: 9-7 chris moore dropping an obvious td pass that hit him clean in his hands, in stride, for an easy catch: 10-6 the 2 definite tds dropped vs pitt, and the possible but iffy one to BP, and pittas inexcusable out of bounds catch inside the 5: 11-5 were welcoming miami back to the bank tomorrow if flacco isnt once again let down over and over and over by his receivers. and hell, idk about the tiebreakers and seeding and all, but maybe we go into week 17 looking to lock up the 2 seed if possible if the tiebreakers allow it and beat the bengals and we are looking at a bye this week. sure though, lets blame flacco. hes done enough to get us there time and time again, just like when owen daniels dropped a game sealing TD right in his hands vs NE in 2014. just like lee evans did the same to send us to the super bowl. just like anquan boldin did the year prior in pittsburgh. it is ABSURD how close he has come to being in 1 more super bowl, and 2 more AFC championships where we wouldve faced the sanchize at home and a horrible colts team and likely won both. Flacco made all of those happen while his receivers screw him over time and time again.

theyve raised ticket prices 1x... ONCE in the last 8 years. And with all the investment theyre putting into the stadium - what do you want them to do? Why do Ozzie and Decosta get a pass for drafting? Ummm... theyre not just getting a pass - they got an A from where im sitting. Franchise LT who was the best pass protector in the entire league down the stretch (per PFF), a legit lockdown type CB, a day 1 above average starter at guard with huge upside (they said they see KO potential in Lewis, btw), a very good situational pass rusher in Judon with big upside, an UDFA gem of a DT who could allow us to walk from BWill, a special teams ace in Moore who showed glimpses of great route running at WR, Dixon came on big down the stretch and is a legit potential lead back..... And that doesnt even include the potential in our 2nd and 3rd round picks. Kaufusi has elite short area burst and many saw him as having monster potential as a pass rusher... some even gave him a rd 1 grade based on his short area burst and strength... and Correa we'll see. But they ACED this draft. Could wind up as one of our best 2-3 drafts in history. And yes. They addressed wanting a dominant run game.... and how you need a dominant OL to do it. Which they see as a priority, along with adding talent at RB. Anything else?

It's gotta be Dixon for me. Watching him progress as the year went along, watching him consistently breaking tackles and almost never going down on first contact, gets me pretty pumped to see what he can do with his rookie season under his belt. If we beef up the Oline and perhaps get a decent center in here after watching Zuttah regress, he can have a stellar year next season. I truly don't understand the buzz for another running back. If Dixon and West aren't consistently being hit in the back field I do believe they'd break more long runs. I think we need to focus this offseason on other needs.

If I am being honest, it is Joe. I really feel like this summer is going to be a brainstorming session to get things in place to help Joe excel.

At least he didnt keep playing and develop something even more serious. I only wish he got to cash out, he deserved it.

I think this is my favorite part of anyone's post. 1. Call Dalton better than Flacco 2. Say Flacco needs a great o-line, stud running game, stud WRs, and an effective defense to succeed 3. Fully ignore the fact that Dalton has had all that practically his whole career
  13. 6 points
Yes, agreed. He needs a Ray Rice. He needs legit WRs. An OL that stays together. Like most Qbs And where have you read we had a top line?
  14. 5 points
I suspect a lot of our newer posters have no clue who Ogden is and what he meant to this team. Damn turf toe!
  15. 5 points
If we keep Wagner then I'll go with the offensive line. I think Lewis improves and Stanley has a true breakout year. I also expect the new C addition would be a boost.
  16. 5 points
hahaha, yea, this basically says it all. Are you a scout for the browns?
  17. 5 points
Webb finished with the fifth best coverage grade over the second half of the season and Weddle was PFF's top ranked safety, but let's get it for an overrated corner who is all name. Makes sense.
  18. 5 points
It actually hurts reading this... did you literally just say they've had our number? We lost to them for the first time in like 3 years - that's their second win vs us since 2013 or something...
  19. 4 points
Yes - it is sarcasm ... hence the LOL. I just feel like there are times when people will say they've looked at a player's "tape", when all they've done was look at their highlight reel ... which of course is laughable. Personally, I look for other people to give me their opinions on prospects, because I'm not going to pretend to be a talent evaluator. I do not seek out anyone's tape, because I wouldn't be able to say one thing or another about it anyway.

We've got the WR 1&2, we also have the OLB and RT as of right now. Quit being so pessimistic. We've gpot WR 1&2? Who do you consider starting caliber WR beside Wallace? Because I don't think at all that Perriman has proven himself last sesaon... The way things looked at the end of the season, I'd much rather go with Aiken than Perriman - but Kamar's all but gone. "Because I don't think at all that Perriman has proven himself last sesaon" We need to play our picks if we want out of veteran free agent cycle. If we want true impact FAs then we can't let journeyman guys take reps from our draft picks and money from our cap.

Healthy Joe, an All Pro Stanley, Breshad becoming a household name

I'm hyped for Perriman and Dixon. I think both guys are going to be great for this offense.

also, i love how many people here arent buying the hype on tabor. dont fall victim to the groupthink! good job everyone!

Cyprien would be a solid get considering that he improved vastly this season. I can almost bypass the fact that Weddle missed two tackles through the first 13 games, the lowest total of any safety through that span. But you went on to criticize supposed fraudulent defensive data directly after mentioning Weddle allowing the Eagles "game-winning touchdown" that came 1 point short of tying the game and resulted in a Ravens victory, thereby falling into the exact category you've just condemned. How well did we think this through? That came after hailing a potential acquisition of Joe Haden, who'd apparently improve our secondary for the next few years, despite him giving up 24 catches on 31 targets for 387 yards and 4 TDs in his only 5 games in 2015, good for a QB rating of 158.2, literally .1 away from a perfect score, and then struggling in 2016 while giving up the 2nd most TDs among all CBs and missing a career-high 10 tackles. But I guess we could glaze over those pitfalls and praise Haden's recent performance while denouncing Weddle because of two specific follies, one of which was negated by the Ravens' win. Right. This is why we can't have nice things.
  25. 4 points
They didn't try to talk him out of it
  26. 4 points
Yep that's how I was looking at it. Crazy how something bad can turn into one of the best things to happen to you. The game may be taken away but it could be so much worse, and I think he realizes that.
  27. 4 points
Great analysis. You picked out the 4 missed plays.... and ignore the 100's of great ones he made. Very clear you dont understand what you're watching and just pay attention to big plays and highlights. With a lesser safety tandem, chances are we're not even in a position to win either of those games. Our secondary improved drastically over the previous years... i wonder why. btw have you watched Haden in the past.. oh i dont know, 3-4 years?? didnt think so. youre probably just thinking of the INT's he got against us in the 1st game and translating that to - "hes amazing!!!"

If I were Jeremy Zuttah I would learn how to hold more discretely
  30. 3 points
He will be missed as a player but it truly is great that they found this. It sounds like he's been dodging a potentially horrific injury for many years.
  31. 3 points
U do know that injuries have been killing us over years, don't u? if we want to win next season, legimate back ups are a must... what excites me most is healthy Joe and O-line...
  32. 3 points
It sounds like the Ravens have already given up on Correa/. We need new scouts. This is just embarrassing.
  33. 3 points
Hrmf, still a road game for us. One less home game for JAX sounds more accurate.

My heart aches for Zachary Orr man! Stand up man, stand up player, just an awesome all around young man! But, the glass is always half full Zack! This next part of your life with your passion and work ethic will prove even more successful I assure you. God Bless you and your family! Stay strong and thank God for the early diagnosis.
  35. 3 points
Tip of the hat to the Ravens' organization for discovering it, where others missed it, before he was seriously disabled. We're gonna miss you Zach!
  36. 3 points
About to make the big money...ugh. Work your entire life for something and then just like that, it's gone. Sad! Sorry to hear, Orr.
  37. 3 points
Wow, total shocker. But so happy for Orr that he is able to walk away from football healthy. Just to think that on any given play he could have been easily paralyzed or even killed...jeesh. Very glad for him that he can live a full, healthy and satisfying life now, that's the most important thing.

If Boyle was smart, he'd keep himself clean so he's available next season. If Pitta was smart, he'd learn how to block before Boyle or someone else takes his job.
  39. 3 points
Dude legitimately has like 1 playoff TD pass. Look it up. It's like one or two maybe. Dalton is a joke.

Flacco is essentially Kerry Collins playing in a different era of football. Nothing wrong with it, you can win with a Kerry Collins as seen by his many years of playing decently well on decent teams. However he needs helps to get there as he'll inexplicably crap the bed some weeks. It is what it is, he's not elite, never has been, he's also not trash, never has been. He's like an 8-12 range QB depending on his year. Its foolish to think he's actually worth the contract he got and its foolish to think you can just find a QB that wins as often as Flacco in any draft. I don't know his contract particulars for dead money but I'd be looking long and hard at him in 2 years when he's 35.
  41. 3 points
If Webb was smart, he'd renegotiate a more cap-friendly deal to help both sides. If Perriman and Moore were smart, they'd spend a LOT of times on the JUGS machine and workng out with Flacco to get their timing If Flacco was smart, he would spend time gaining chemistry with receivers and focusing on his fundamentals; footwork, etc. If Lewis was smart, he'd watch a lot of tape of Yanda and learn how to become a dominant guard. If West and Dixon were smart, they'd work their butts off this offseason to prove they deserve more carries (since it's pretty much been said that we want to bring in another running back) If Reynolds was smart, he should spend a lot of time fielding punts and kickoffs to show he is ready to be a returner next year. IF Waller was smart, he'd work on his blocking and watching tape of premier TEs to learn intricacies of running better routes, etc.
  42. 2 points
Not really. I'm not even convinced that we need to replace Orr with another ILB at all necessarily.
  43. 2 points
I guess we all actually watch film rather than just highlights of the players
  44. 2 points
So your argument is watch one play?? ok... literally watch every play other than that play and try to tell me he's bad. Lets try this - who's better? And when you give me a name and I can show you 10 plays equally as bad or worse than Weddle biting on that pa fake will you finally stop talking?
  45. 2 points
Don't know if this has been posted in the thread yet, but Orr is honestly an amazing person: https://mobile.twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/status/822501418351423490?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet

I really haven't seen much of anything promising with him, inside or out. For all the talk about the versatility, I would have expected tone more from 2nd rounder.
  47. 2 points
I'm just completely blown away. I had just heard we had made progress in contract negotiations with him. He was right on the verge of becoming a star and receiving a huge payday so you know it has to be serious. This just really sucks any way you look at it. What was one of our strongest positions now becomes a need. We just can't catch a break. Would much rather him play it safe than risk getting paralyzed or even worse though. Damn. He was quickly becoming one of my favorite players man. I had a feeling that the press conference was going to be Ozzie announcing this was his last ride- this just took me by complete surprise. Just goes to show you that nothing is promised and how fragile players careers can be. I think this was something he was born with if im not mistaken but one hit can end your career.
  48. 2 points
Well considering much of his cap impact is from past bonuses that we paid him and another team wouldn't have to take those one, he'd be a FA for about an hour and a half. If we were to trade him, another team would only pay him $6M next season, $12M in 2018, and $18.5M in 2019... all great bargains. So yeah, needless to say, there would be about a half dozen teams that would spring into action at that point. At those amounts, his production doesn't even matter. The reason we are "stuck with him" is because it would take many, many years to find a better player, and we have no interest in getting rid of a player who's already proven he can be very good for us. Doesn't make much sense from a business or an on-field success standpoint. We know he's better than Osweiler, and he got $18M a year. So yeah, the bidding starts at $20M and goes up from there.
  49. 2 points
Last I check we kicked Collins' butt in a super bowl and he didn't do too much playoff wise after that.
  50. 2 points
Andy Dalton is not a good qb. He has been on one of the most loaded rosters in the NFL for years now and aside from last year's playoff loss he has been the reason they can't win a playoff game. He gets to the playoffs and stinks it up and brings their stacked team a loss.
