I will say, I've met Zach a few times and you can tell that he's a very smart guy. It sucks as a fan and a team to lose out on a young ascending player, but at the end of the day, you have to hope the best for him. I don't doubt for one second that he put a lot of thought into this decision and made the choice that he ultimately felt was best for himself and his future. I wish him luck. I'm sad to see him go, but I'll never blame a guy for walking away to try to preserve his health.

Crazy to say but I bet he's thankful for that injury against the Eagles/Steelers because it may have saved his life or the quality of it.

no, the QB is on my team as well. I payed for him to have surgery and all his bones were replaced with titanium rods. His muscles are all wrapped in a proprietary carbon fiber / kevlar composite. He will never injure a muscle or break a bone. So, no the starting QB will never go down. and no you can not tour the facility where my team practices.

Thank you. I couldn't stand going through 15 minutes of Redskins just to get a 5 minute piece on the Ravens. I won't pretend to act like I know enough about network deals to say what Mr. B should or shouldn't do, I just hope wherever RaveTV goes they have some knowledgeable guys giving insight on the Ravens

At least he didnt keep playing and develop something even more serious. I only wish he got to cash out, he deserved it.

I think this is my favorite part of anyone's post. 1. Call Dalton better than Flacco 2. Say Flacco needs a great o-line, stud running game, stud WRs, and an effective defense to succeed 3. Fully ignore the fact that Dalton has had all that practically his whole career
  10. 6 points
This business is so cutthroat we're going for his grandchildren
  11. 5 points
hahaha, yea, this basically says it all. Are you a scout for the browns?
  12. 5 points
Webb finished with the fifth best coverage grade over the second half of the season and Weddle was PFF's top ranked safety, but let's get it for an overrated corner who is all name. Makes sense.

all this crying about Flacco has forced to me to watch other Qb's who "hit their receivers" in stride and it's BS. Rogers threw a pass that was under thrown for a TD. His receiver adjusted his body accordingly and made the play. He then rolled into the end zone. I don't want to hear anymore how Flacco may over or under throw some targets, if you can make a play then make it. EVERY QB doesn't put it right in your hands, sometimes all they can do is give you a shot to make the play. Why is this thread still going? what else can we possibly stress about Flacco improving and the front office putting better pieces around him. We know what must be done. Every team left standing how a weapon with the exception of Rogers who's playing out of his mind.

They didn't try to talk him out of it
  15. 4 points
Terrible, but from what I know of him, he's got some sort of a future in coaching if that's where he wants to go from here. Super smart guy and you obviously don't make it as an UDFA unless you're willing to work harder than everyone else.
  16. 4 points
Yep that's how I was looking at it. Crazy how something bad can turn into one of the best things to happen to you. The game may be taken away but it could be so much worse, and I think he realizes that.
  17. 4 points
Great analysis. You picked out the 4 missed plays.... and ignore the 100's of great ones he made. Very clear you dont understand what you're watching and just pay attention to big plays and highlights. With a lesser safety tandem, chances are we're not even in a position to win either of those games. Our secondary improved drastically over the previous years... i wonder why. btw have you watched Haden in the past.. oh i dont know, 3-4 years?? didnt think so. youre probably just thinking of the INT's he got against us in the 1st game and translating that to - "hes amazing!!!"

Webb is catching too much flack here, he played very well down the stretch and he was a damn good tackler.

I wasn't referring to the Steelers game just so you know. I was referring to his entire body of work since 2011. And yes I know he was instrumental in winning us a SB in 2012. In lieu of me trying to rehash why I wrote what I did, I would just as much link you to an article which doesn't deal in fantasy but in cold hard facts about why Flacco is such a paradox. My intention wasn't to ruffle homer's feathers but to state what I believe is true. You may feel floored by other people's opinions but sometimes it helps to see the big picture and understand why somebody feels a certain way. Without further ado, here's the link to that article which basically makes the same point but in more glorious and stat laden detail. I urge you to read it with an open mind before arbitrarily dismissing it. http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2017/1/17/14294920/the-ravens-joe-flacco-paradox

Can I be backup QB? I don't want to play too much but I want on field access and a nice salary for sitting on the sidelines. Plus I can play a couple good games if the starter gets injured and get paid 72 mil in free agency(which gives you a third round comp pick).
  24. 4 points
No. I am an owner. I will pay someone to do that for me.

Hrmf, still a road game for us. One less home game for JAX sounds more accurate.

My heart aches for Zachary Orr man! Stand up man, stand up player, just an awesome all around young man! But, the glass is always half full Zack! This next part of your life with your passion and work ethic will prove even more successful I assure you. God Bless you and your family! Stay strong and thank God for the early diagnosis.

Tip of the hat to the Ravens' organization for discovering it, where others missed it, before he was seriously disabled. We're gonna miss you Zach!

About to make the big money...ugh. Work your entire life for something and then just like that, it's gone. Sad! Sorry to hear, Orr.
  29. 3 points
Wow, total shocker. But so happy for Orr that he is able to walk away from football healthy. Just to think that on any given play he could have been easily paralyzed or even killed...jeesh. Very glad for him that he can live a full, healthy and satisfying life now, that's the most important thing.
  30. 3 points
Complete shock. He was right on the verge of becoming a star. Glad they found it before he was seriously injured though or even worse. As much as this sucks - football is not life.
  31. 3 points
The Ravens are such a classy organization they could have waited until later but they gave Orr the chance to announce his retirement on his own terms. I wise Zach Orr much success and I honestly think he will do great at anything he does going forward even coaching.
  32. 3 points
Such a genuine guy. It's hard not to root for him in whatever comes next for him. He's interested in coaching and Orr seems like the exact type of guy I'd want helping out my players when he's ready for that chapter.

It's a bummer. Zach Orr became one of my favorites this year. Unheralded, underrated, and unknown, he still came in to grind and make plays every game. He played with fire and intensity, and I'm going to miss that. Not only that, but he became one of our smarter defenders, too. He could have been a legitimate leader going forward. Wishing him the best in "retirement." I'm sure he'll find something worthwhile to do in retirement. He doesn't strike me as the kind of player that make headlines for the wrong reasons in retirement.
  35. 3 points
Man this stinks. ILB was like the one position group where you could say we've got two legit, ascending starters and can lock it up for years. Now a hole. And for him as an UDFA just breaking out, never got the contract that couldve set his family for life. It's a shame. But, he proved he could make it from UDFA to NFL starter. I'm sure he'll take that same determination to his next endeavor in life and do just as well with it.

Sad news. Hope Zach is okay long term This team can't catch a break

They make other team's games very hard to watch for me. It's like touchdown-commercial-extra point-commercial-kick off-commercial. It's incredibly annoying and makes me honestly lose interest.

Ignoring how you seem to not realize Weddle was one of the top rated safeties in the NFL you are forgetting how cap savings work. If you have to pay a new player to take someone's spot you aren't really saving money and since you would be cutting safeties to sign a corner (and a corner who is basically getting by on reputation alone at this point) so you have to pay money to buy new safeties thus making the cut pointless.

knocking on wood this guy is better than castillo.

Not all edge rushers need to have great bend to be successful. Like I said I wouldn't use him much outside yet but inside nobody is going to block him. He's too fast and too strong for gaurds to handle. He's a great character and worker and remember he's still a red shirt sophomore. Plus I'm not sure what to think of jernigan anymore....i almost forgot he was on the team the second half of this season

Joe never made excuses for his less then good performances during last season. I truly believe that Mr Biscotti hit the nail on the head. There is no way Joe could have been 100% and I look forward to a better next season for Joe and our Ravens.

Flacco is essentially Kerry Collins playing in a different era of football. Nothing wrong with it, you can win with a Kerry Collins as seen by his many years of playing decently well on decent teams. However he needs helps to get there as he'll inexplicably crap the bed some weeks. It is what it is, he's not elite, never has been, he's also not trash, never has been. He's like an 8-12 range QB depending on his year. Its foolish to think he's actually worth the contract he got and its foolish to think you can just find a QB that wins as often as Flacco in any draft. I don't know his contract particulars for dead money but I'd be looking long and hard at him in 2 years when he's 35.

Who in their right mind negged these 2 posts!? (I boosted them back up with a positive)
  47. 2 points
See my post above. I dont get this "better fit" than Wallace stuff. It may not seem like it on the surface or whatever, but the #'s dont lie. Wallace was among the most efficiently productive WR's in the league. Meaning he did more, with less touches, than all but maybe 1 other receiver. His YAC was very high up there... top 10ish. Thats what you want in a WCO. He caught for 1st downs at a high rate. Thats what you want. He caught a high percentage of his throws. Thats what you want. Even if he takes a step back -- you are going to find it near impossible to replace his production with anyone on the market, period. Let alone for similar money. You need to add a guy as is to replace SSS. So add a guy. But why cut Wallace to HOPE you can equal his production; and STILL have to replace SSS production. Cut Wallace to get Marshall, Garcon or Britt. You still need a #2 or #3 guy then; and to go get a Wright or another mid-tier #2 type guy... you're going to spend Wallace money to get less than wallace production. Increasing the overall spend for overall less production. Why does it always have to be subtract to add??? Why cant we just add to add? We know Wallace produces in this offense. We need to keep the weapons Joe likes....

Never liked Juan Castillo. The scheme he implemented seemed to take far too long to implement. Players seemed to struggle with assignments. Forsett was able to make it work but only with Kubiak running the show. More change please- 8-8 ain't good enough next year!

Joe D'ALessandris, formerly of the San Diego Charges, has been hired for the position. I didn't follow the Chargers closely from 2013-2015, while he was there, but I believe they've always run a man/gap scheme. One recent pick, DJ Fluker from Alabama, is a 6'5 340 pound behemoth who is about as nimble as an oak tree. This may reflect what this guy looks for in an olineman. This is not to say he prefers huge, plodding mammoths, but I think it shows a preference for brute strength over athleticism.

Kruger-situational pass rusher only, nothing else Upshaw- average ILB or system player Torrey- would not fight even if someone steals his lunch money. McPhee-another systematic guy and injury away from retirement. KO- asking too much money and only teams that won't spend anything or cheap for past decade can afford it, so he asked for LT money to play for the LG...what a rip off..... I don't see any problem you are listing but more like positive takeaways... Kruger: do we have anyone else that can be a situational passrusher.. id take kruger over ZADARIUS OR JUDON OR MCCLELAN Upshaw: best edge setter since JOHNSON.. why get rid of him torrey: Since he left.. flacco has gone deep barely once a game... WE NEEDED HIM McPhee: injuries this injuries that... he was starting to become what we needed then got rid of him... pathetic KO: sometimes you just have to pay people... simple as that. we paid yanda how many times? why because hes the best we got. The Ravens offered Torrey a contract. He took the Niners offer of MORE MONEY. Offered KO a contract, he took the Raiders offer of MORE MONEY. McPhee and Kruger wanted to test the FA Market to see how much MORE MONEY they could get. Do you see a trend here? You can't play a good player great player money. The Raiders had the money to offer KO simply because they have not had to address breaking the bank with Carr and the QB position.....for now. Oz low balled KO- google it- KO was offended by it, and no way he was going to come play for the Ravens. Just like Oz tried to lowball Anquan on the last year of his contract, and see what happened after we lost Anquan- we only made it to the playoffs once since he and Torrey left. Bad Oz, bad Oz So because we've lost an aging possesion reciever and a questionable #2 WR who wanted #1 money, that's the reason we can't make the play-offs? Maybe we should give you a crack at GM... And have googled KO...Ozzie offered him a little over market value, Raiders way over paid him. They'll be begging him to restructure his contract in the next year or so when Carr, Mack, ect. start coming into their pay-days...
