Steve Smith won't be back. I'm 89 percent sure of it

Its my fault fellas. I didn't have the correct game day jersey on.

Not to mention how easy our path to the AFCG wouldve been had we beat Pittsburgh and ended up the #3 seed. 1) Miami at home 2) Oakland ...both without starting qbs. That would've almost guaranteed us a chance against new England or KC for a trip to Houston. Makes me sick. Now Pittsburgh has that path. We were so close. Just wasn't meant to be.

i wanna point out what our record would be if flacco hadnt been constantly let down by his teammates: perriman not getting his foot down on that perfect back shoulder fade vs the skins: 9-7 chris moore dropping an obvious td pass that hit him clean in his hands, in stride, for an easy catch: 10-6 the 2 definite tds dropped vs pitt, and the possible but iffy one to BP, and pittas inexcusable out of bounds catch inside the 5: 11-5 were welcoming miami back to the bank tomorrow if flacco isnt once again let down over and over and over by his receivers. and hell, idk about the tiebreakers and seeding and all, but maybe we go into week 17 looking to lock up the 2 seed if possible if the tiebreakers allow it and beat the bengals and we are looking at a bye this week. sure though, lets blame flacco. hes done enough to get us there time and time again, just like when owen daniels dropped a game sealing TD right in his hands vs NE in 2014. just like lee evans did the same to send us to the super bowl. just like anquan boldin did the year prior in pittsburgh. it is ABSURD how close he has come to being in 1 more super bowl, and 2 more AFC championships where we wouldve faced the sanchize at home and a horrible colts team and likely won both. Flacco made all of those happen while his receivers screw him over time and time again.

I know we're coming off a heart breaking season... but why are people acting like we're so far off? Making statements like we cant field a contender with Joe's salary?? Can anyone really say with a straight face we're that far behind Pittsburgh? We mopped the floor with them once and wouldve a 2nd time if not for a 4th qtr collapse on defense.... and they're in the AFCCG. THE AFCCG PEOPLE! Is there anyone that can tell me with a straight face that we couldnt have beat Miami in the WC Round and then beat the Chiefs given the performance they put up? I'm not saying it's perfect, or that all is rosy. There's plenty not to like, and plenty to be fixed. And that only furthers my point... with all the flaws that we've pointed out time and again, we're still just a couple inches behind the team thats in the AFCCG this coming weekend. So - we dont even necessarily have to fix all the flaws. If we improve, we should be in a good spot again. And we will. We've got about $16m in cap space right now; with another $10-15m likely to come off the books in the offseason. With $20-30m in cap space we should be to resign the guys we want, make the additions we want, and with any luck we'll get contributions from drafted players along with other guys currently on the roster stepping up/improving... and we'll be right back contending next year. With literally no run game to speak of, and an incredibly inconsistent pass rush we're literally about as even as can be with the team in the AFCCG right now. Right.... but we cant ever win with this QB and his salary. GIVE ME A BREAK

Look I am a Flacco fan, but an appreciation thread after this season I think is a little much. Also, he isn't going anywhere so why appreciate something that's going to remain here for the foreseeable future right now. Unless you know something I don't....

Yes, agreed. He needs a Ray Rice. He needs legit WRs. An OL that stays together. Like most Qbs And where have you read we had a top line?

Since there's one for First-Pick we may as well have a thread ready for the fanspeak mocks. These can be interesting, though rarely realistic. Even if the board is decent, teams do a lot of weird picks. Oh well, I'll get it started: 16: R1P16 S JAMAL ADAMS LSU 47: R2P15 EDGE TAKKARIST MCKINLEY UCLA 78: R3P14 C PAT ELFLEIN OHIO STATE 102: R3P38 WR CURTIS SAMUEL OHIO STATE 121: R4P16 EDGE DAESHON HALL TEXAS A&M 160: R5P15 CB CORN ELDER MIAMI (FLA.) 199: R6P14 OT STORM NORTON TOLEDO 237: R7P16 CB ASHTON LAMPKIN OKLAHOMA STATE Speaking of unrealistic, Elflein in the third. Gotta admit though, I'd be beyond ecstatic if this was our draft.

Well great, then we have zero safeties, sounds like a great idea. I am assuming he means to make room for money, regardless, terrible idea

See, I'd say the opposite. I think Nelson is nasty and an absolute road grader and with Feeney, you're getting the best pass protector and the best all around player.

Please no more CB's from the 3rd to the 7th Round. Only 2 have worked in the last 14 Drafts, Webb and Young.

just watched lattimore for the first time, only watched one game but im really impressed with him. i counted 3 bad plays in coverage, 2 were inconsequential. one was an early hold that went uncalled because he stutter stepped at the snap and had to recover, the other he tripped up going downfield on a fly route, the other he second guessed himself on a zone assignment when the LB had the RB in the flat and he jumped it and let the wr run downfield, the qb didnt look his way though. he failed to get off the block on a reverse and gave up another 20 yards or so, but recovered to make the tackle downfield. aside from that he was stellar vs oklahoma, he appeared beaten on a really deep crossing route which the qb extended the play to a good 6-7 seconds in the backfield, the receiver got just one step to the right and top of him and baker mayfield led him decently on the throw, but lattimore showed an incredible burst of speed while already in full sprint and beat the receiver to the well placed ball for an amazing pick. later, a ball was thrown way over both of their heads but lattimore played it like a receiver, he laid out and extended for a spectacular diving catch. other than that he was untargeted all night for good reason, his man was absolutely blanketed, he pressed well and re-routed his man every time he attempted it, he was in the pocket on every tight man snap, never gave up an inch except for downfield situations in which case he gave very little space. he shows a good ability to prepare himself for any route, his footwork at the snap shows that he is reading the receiver and reading right, he mirrors the receivers every move, all the subtle twitches etc. are mirrored exactly, and when its time to get upfield he turns his hips quickly and confidently, good downfield speed, shifts momentum with ease when running stride for stride with a WR who makes a cut. i didnt see many, if any off-man snaps, he was mostly in tight or press which is fine because he excels there, and i did see him have a big mental lapse with one of the few zone snaps he played, so scheme diversity so far is a big issue for him, but as far as tight/press man coverage goes hes top tier for sure. personally i think he would be best served to return for another season, hes a top 10 pick, maybe top 5 type of cb if he develops his zone and off-man game. as of now i would take him at 16 in a heartbeat and hope he develops because that is a shutdown man cover corner, at least from what ive seen.

Dude legitimately has like 1 playoff TD pass. Look it up. It's like one or two maybe. Dalton is a joke.

Flacco is essentially Kerry Collins playing in a different era of football. Nothing wrong with it, you can win with a Kerry Collins as seen by his many years of playing decently well on decent teams. However he needs helps to get there as he'll inexplicably crap the bed some weeks. It is what it is, he's not elite, never has been, he's also not trash, never has been. He's like an 8-12 range QB depending on his year. Its foolish to think he's actually worth the contract he got and its foolish to think you can just find a QB that wins as often as Flacco in any draft. I don't know his contract particulars for dead money but I'd be looking long and hard at him in 2 years when he's 35.

Dennis deserves the comeback award. Bell shouldn't have been considered. Why award someone who was suspended four games for something they did wrong?

Just imagine if we would have had Lewis and Brady on the same team. We would have used the Steelers as a toilet paper for over a decade. And who knows, maybe Lewis would have taught Brady how to be a man, instead of being a little whiny crybaby he is today.

OK, so I hate the P*triots. and I hate Br*dy. I think I hate them more than I hate the Squeelers. While I hate the Squeelers, I do respect them as an adversary in our Division. So, as much as it pains me to say it, I think I have to root for the Squeelers to win on Sunday. When either of these guys goes to the Super Bowl??? And the Packers beat the Falcons??? I will be rooting for the Packers... Go Pack Go...

He spent the entire off-season rehabbing. He was at the castle nearly every day, even after a blizzard. He put in more time than most players to return from a 12 month injury in 9 months. I don't see why people continue to question his work ethic.

I don't care who we draft as long as they play and they're good. I hate the draft, I get it I get it, believe me I get it, but god I hate the draft .

The past few years our needs and the board lined up nicely and the FO still messed up. Hopefully they can get it right this year. That Correa pick then moving him to MLB kills me.

If the draft talent matches the Ravens needs, I hope they do some double-dipping. We have several glaring needs. Gitter done.

Deep CB, C and RB pools for the draft probably means Ozzie isn't gonna pick any of these earlier than mid-round - 3-4th rounds maybe. Also, I see no way the top 2 WR's are still on the board at #16, and they seem to be the only WR's worthy of a first round pick... This means it's gonna be an OLB or ILB guy if Ozzie picks in round 1, IMHO...

Tabor, Wilson, King, and Jones. We need to draft at least one of these guys

So the Steelers have had our number in terms of acquiring talent but haven't had our number in terms of being able to beat us over the past 4-5 years??? so what's this magic equalizer that allows our talent deficient team to beat them so often recently?? btw if your spelling is really that bad you need to find another medium to express yourself because my 5 year old niece is more literate. But in reality I know this is just the "schtick" of this newest troll account you've created among the many over the years. Past lean muscle and alpha males and onto illiterate idiot. Sad how much time you have on ur hands... creating a distinct personality for each one. This ones just a blatant ripoff of pft commenter... and not a good one.

We may decide to pay starting CB in FA and target Foster but I'm not sure we'd be able to get him at 16. CJ Mosley's college tape wasn't much different, maybe Foster blitzes more due to slightly different D but Foster seems little faster. Those two would be the best LB combo since Willis/Bowman, by far.

I think they'd probably be rated around the same if they were to come out in the same draft, which I'd be thrilled with because you'd be getting two potential All-Pros.

Fans need to look downfield more during games instead of watching Flacco awkwardly move in the pocket. No one is getting separation. This has been an issue for years in the regular season. For some reason it gets a little bit better during the playoffs when the team goes to them. But still the Ravens have not yet successfully been able to put together a solid season offensively and Flacco is far from the only reason why this offense is struggling.

"Specifically, extending Joe Flacco’s contract with a boatload of new guaranteed money before they were forced to and when he was coming off a down season can be debated. Spending precious salary cap space on an old tight end in Ben Watson, who was promptly injured, after the team had been decimated by injuries in previous seasons was another head scratcher. And choosing a pair of defenders on Day 2 of the draft, Kamalei Correa and Bronson Kaufusi, who did not have the pedigree or NFL ready bodies to provide instant coffee was suspect." There a lot of that going around.

The problem with Lewis is that he was asked, as a 6'6 mammoth who I don't believe had interior experience, to become a dancing bear in a zone scheme that requires phone booth quickness. There's a reason you don't see a lot of 6'6 guards, especially in teams with zone schemes. They tend to lack pad level, flexibility, and quickness, three essential traits of zone blocking guards. I would bet that most zone blocking guards are in the 6'2 - 6'4, 310 pound range, as opposed to the 6'6 330 that Lewis is. He'd be fine in other schemes where he doesn't have to worry about simultaneously sealing and driving defenders. If you let him just attack the defender across from him instead of making him dance with the defender, he'd be able to focus more on that pad level and get drive.

How accurate are they on a year to year basis? $11M is way too high and I doubt the Ravens will pay that price for a NT. The Ravens did say KO was a priority when they kept Yanda, but in the end they bowed down to the Market. I know if the same applies here but we all knew that KO was getting more than what the Ravens offered him. I really don't think that's what he's going to get, but if that's the case then I don't think the Ravens will be paying that price.

he has had a ridiculous roster around him. when people make comparisons like this they dont take these things into account. the OL, the run game with 2 very good backs, aj green, marvin jones, mohammad sanu(who was at least a solid possession guy), tyler eifert, jermaine gresham, and hes always had a very strong defense that he can always fall back on. i dont think any qb in the league has had it as easy as dalton and all hes done is put up decent regular season numbers and choke in the playoffs. put him on the ravens and see how awful he/the team looks. then imagine flacco playing on that stacked roster. fortunately we will never see that play out, but you would never be able to convince me that flacco on that bengals squad wouldnt be setting the league on fire.
  48. 2 points
Andy Dalton is not a good qb. He has been on one of the most loaded rosters in the NFL for years now and aside from last year's playoff loss he has been the reason they can't win a playoff game. He gets to the playoffs and stinks it up and brings their stacked team a loss.

Wrong thread! Wrong conclusion!! Harry Houdini couldn't turn some of our mediocre WRs into stud WRs like Beckham, Brown, Fitzgerald et cetera. He could make them disappear though. Would you rather have Cap'n Kirk? I hear he's goin to get a big paycheck soon. Maybe we could do a swap or maybe we can get The Red Rifle in a bargain-basement deal with Cincy. Who knows? Maybe they'd consider a two for two deal and we could swap Harbaugh for Hue Jackson too!!! Get real, Ra Ra!!!
